Sometimes a roof access hatch with a lift up lid is not always practical or safe. Consider the following when deciding between a lift up or sliding lid.
1. Space Efficiency – How much vertical clearance is there? A sliding hatch might be a better option if vertical clearance is limited.
2. Ease of Use – When carrying tools or equipment through the hatch, a sliding door might be easier to open.
3. Safety considerations – Reduce the risk of the lid accidentally slamming shut by opting for a sliding hatch.
4. Wind Resistance – Wind can catch on a lift up lid, and can cause damage or become a safety hazard.
5. Longer service life – The components of a sliding lid are often less stressed than a lift-up lid, resulting in less maintenance.
