ROOF PITCH

Knowing the pitch (slope) of the roof when choosing the profile is important for the following reasons:

  • an incorrect choice could mean that the product is not covered by warranty
  • water can pool on a flat roof
  • water will move more slowly on a lower pitch roof than a higher pitch roof, therefore you need a higher rib height to accommodate a greater water capacity
  • the deeper the corrugations in the roof sheet, the more water it will hold
  • a pitch of more than 5° helps keep the roof looking cleaner, as the increased water run off will help remove dust and debris
  • a higher pitched roof will have a greater wind load and may need to be installed with stronger materials
  • a higher pitched roof will require longer sheet lengths and will therefore cost more

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Roof pitch is important, but when choosing your profile, you need to also consider the type of environmental conditions your roof with experience.
